2Good for toy guns....not real gunsMar 15, 2010
This might be good for paintball guns; but the laser does not adjust and with the poor fitting of this product, you will need to adjust the laser. I would not recommend this product even at a reduced price point, it just not usable.

4Very nice compact unitMar 08, 2010
Purchased this for use with a 12 ga. Mossberg 500 I'm converting from storage queen to home defense unit. I was looking for a compact tactical flashlight that could blind a nighttime aggressor. That the laser was included was icing on the cake.

The laser is a useful addition day or night, easily visible out to at least 75 feet in broad daylight to the naked eye. At night its easily seen out to 100 yards or more. Certainly further than I'd trust it to line up with point of impact due to no adjustments.

In a totally darkened furnished room, the flashlight puts out a wide bluish-white flood illumination with lots of cast shadows no floodlight can penetrate well. Barely good enough for 1 normal sized 12 x 20 foot furnished room if you're not sure where your quarry is and you have older eyes like mine. Still way far better than going in with nothing so thats not really a knock, just physics.

My only real reservation with this unit is the battery door. The tiny bottom latch doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. If this unit can digest a couple of boxes of 12 ga. without spitting its batteries on the ground I'll be pleased. I'll update after I've given that a try.

The unit came with two battery doors, one is lever operated on/off style and the other a coil type tac switch. Both worked well. The laser is well focused and only slightly off center of the flashlight beam. Both the flashlight and laser are triggered together with no way to select only one or the other.

Mounting was very good with no slop in any direction. Getting it back off the weaver/picatinny rail was a bit of a wrestling match due to the very strong spring latch.

I had previously rated this unit 3 stars and recommended it only for pistol due to low light output from the flashlight. With the addition of fresh batteries this unit became much brighter and now receives a 4 star rating and an upgrade for shotgun use. If it's still alive after 50 rounds of 3 dram equivalent 12 gauge it'll deserve it.

In summary: For a longer range weapon such as a rifle I would look elsewhere due to the non adjustable laser. Mounted to a pistol or used on a shotgun at closer ranges it should do just fine.

For the money: 2 big thumbs up.

5Great Bang for the buckOct 19, 2009
I perchased this NcStar laser/light combo for my Mossberg 500 Tachtical Persuader Shot Gun.
I used a laserLyte Tri-rail mount to attach it. This is the best bang for the buck($48.00) that you can get. Attaching the Tri-rail mount was stright foward and you just slide the laser/light down until it lock in place.

The light is nice and bright and the laser was right on target. Make sure that it is securely lock(click) onto you gun before firing, or it will fly off. I showed it to my friends and family (after talking my wife into getting it) and two of my friends want to get this for there shot guns.

I highly recommended that you use the LaserLyte Tri-rail mount to attack the NcStar laser/light combo to any shot gun. If you have a heatsheild installed on your shot gun, I recommend that you use a C-clamp to hold the heatsheild in place while installing the Tri-rail mount.

I hope this help you in deciding witch unit to get.

5NC Star Laser and Flash Light ReviewDec 14, 2008
This is a really tough product but be carefully gettting in to the battery compartment. That set up needs redesigning. I like the laser close to the barrel but it needs to be adjustable. Mine was a little pricey compared to the competition's.
